The story grabs the attention of the students by first looking for the verb and then the direct object isn't until the next page. My colleague said she been teaching this skills for over 8 years and the kids have never pick it up this fast. Rick Walton has books for all parts of speech. He is highly recommended by Ramona Recommends.
