Back to School with Ramona Recommends

Hi Friends,

Can't believe the time has come to say good bye to sleeping in, forgetting what day of the week it is, no stress Sundays, and morning workouts. I still have 2 weeks, but I am speaking for all my teacher friends who have already returned. :)

I am so excited for this blog post. Almost as excited as I was when I revealed my home library. Did you see it? I literally lay on the floor and just stare at it. It makes me feel so joyful. #thelittlethings. Ok, back to today's excitement. I did my FIRST video. Omg! My heart is still nervous about posting it, but here I go....  Lets just say I'm not Jennifer Aniston, but hey it's my first video. I need to get some lessons! I will be sharing my favorite picture books and chapter books for back to school. There were a few books that did not make it into the video, but I will have pictures and links below.

  1. Love your list! My favorite is The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This year I am reading Tuesdays at the Castle as my first read aloud.

  3. You are an amazing resource!! Thanks for the free book list. Many of the books you listed are also my favorites!!

My favorite book as a read aloud is Wonder, but last year most of the teachers at my school read it to their classes because we all had loved it & it was great to have a common book to discuss school-wide. A friend of mine's school read The One and Only Ivan school-wide. I find that my classes always love Andrew Clements books, particularly The Landry News and The Report Card. A quick beginning of the year that's hilarious is Jake Drake, Teacher's Pet (also by Clements).

Thanks for sharing all your book knowledge!! :)

  4. I love this list!! So many great ones to add to my cupboard of read alouds! My favorite and first read aloud of the year is Miss Maple's Seeds. It's an adorable book and it covers a whole lot! Our first science unit is on structures of life where they study seeds so it ties to that wonderfully. Also, there a ton of ways to compare the students to seeds and Miss Maple to the teacher. Lastly, it really hits on the idea that everyone needs different things in order to thrive and grow which is a great message into the whole "fair does not mean equal" talk. I just love it! Thanks again for this great comprehensive list!
